The Designer:
Mokete Mohapi is a distinguished creative director, with a Graphic Design Degree and a BA Honours in Fine Arts majoring in design. He registered his first company called Backyard Designs in 2001. This business offers graphic design services, textile and screen-printing, digital printing and CMT services. Mokete launched his Miles Ahead clothing brand in 2008. The designs for this brand are inspired by the iconic Basotho Heritage blankets. He is the designer of the Majabajaba blanket which formed part of the YBD class of 2022.

The blanket features King Moshoeshoe I in the centre, surrounded by all the Kings who have reigned after him including the current King Letsie III. Notably amongst all the Kings there was one Queen, Mofumahali Mantsébo Seeiso who ruled from 1940 to 1960. It also features the iconic Basotho shield and Mokorotlo. King Moshoeshoe I’s philosophy was that there is unity in diversity. The name of the blanket signifies this. Lastly, it will have the official Lesotho 200-year logo woven label.
